Defender Willi
Our Defender "Willi" is a 1992 Land Rover Defender with a 300tdi engine. We bought it pretty much ready for the scrap heap in 2016 and within a year we upgraded it to a self-sufficient "4-Season Go Anywhere" camper. In early 2017, the time had finally come and we sent "Willi" across the sea to Canada. The following 15 months we explored Canada, USA and Baja California. During this time we have always made small or even larger optimizations to our Defender. Many details that we had not thought of before, we have improved or added over time. A big change was in store for "Willi" in January 2019. We replaced the engine in Vancouver and repaired many other components that broke during the 60,000 miles we drove. At the same time, we took this big change as an opportunity to tinker with new storage compartments in and on Willi, add a snorkel, take our hot water system to a new level with a water level heater, and much more.
